Prophet Adam symbolizes the connection between humanity and God. According to the Sufi tradition, God said to him: “I am your tongue and your eye. I am your senses, your kindness (lotf), and your anger (qahr). He is the one of whom God has said: ‘Through Me he hears and through Me he sees.’ Adam is to reality (Haqq) what the pupil is to the eye.
Adam holds a special role in the creation story as a mediator between pairs of opposites such as: Universal-Individual; First cause-Last effect; External-Internal; Light-Darkness; Presence-Absence; Independence-Dependency.
Are you less than the earth? To a clod of earth finding a friend, countless blossoms sprout in a spring shower. The tree that makes a pact with a friend like the sweet spring breeze immediately blooms from head to toe. But if in autumn it finds a repulsive companion, it tucks its head and face under a blanket and says: “A bad companion brings misery. Now that he has come, I might as well go to sleep.”
The eternal light borders this evil world. Pure milk flows alongside rivers of blood. Anyone who takes a step into this world without the necessary precautions contaminates the milk, turning it into blood.
Adam took one step towards physical pleasure, upon which expulsion from the heights of paradise wrapped around the throat of his carnal soul like a band. Angels fled from him as if he were a veritable devil. How many tears did he shed for one loaf of bread! Even though the sin he committed was as thin as a hair, it blinded his eyes. Adam was the eye of the eternal light. A hair in the eye proved to be a mighty mountain. If Adam had consulted, he would never have needed to repent, for one intellect joining with another prevents wicked deeds and foul language. But when the carnal soul joins with another carnal soul, the incomplete intellect becomes vain and futile.
One who falls into despair due to loneliness begins to shine under the wing of the true friend like the sun. Immediately seek the friend of God. Then God Himself is your friend. One learns solitude from the friend after all. Withdraw from strangers, not from the friend. The fur coat is meant for winter, not for spring. Connect intellect with another intellect and the light becomes greater, the path clearly visible. The friend is for you, hunter, like a pair of eyes. Ensure no splinters or straws enter. Beware of stirring up dust with the broom of your tongue. Do not make a show of the mess in your eye.
The true believer is a mirror for the true believer, thus his face remains unsoiled. The friend is a mirror for the soul in times of sorrow. Soul, do not fog the mirror. Hold your breath constantly so that your breath does not cloud the mirror.

Sleep accompanied by wisdom is true vigilance. Woe to the man who is awake and in the company of the ignorant.” When the crows set up their tents in January, the nightingales hide and keep silent. Without the rose garden, the nightingale remains quiet, the absence of the sun nullifies its vigilance.
The physical senses feed on the food of darkness, the spiritual senses are nourished by the sun.
